One of the most important methodological concepts of training is variability. Variability in tactical proposals that require decision making (more or less specific) but also variability regarding the dominant motor contraction pattern. This means, in essence, not requiring the athlete to have the same effort pattern during all training sessions of the week. In this way, we do not create overload and, at the same time, we target different neuro-muscular and physiological patterns.
Coach ID app allows the coach, in the creation of the exercises, to define the dominant motor contraction pattern he / she intends and thus to classify the ORIENTATION of the training session according to:

These three terms are used in the methodological proposal of TACTICAL PERIODIZATION, a model widely known by the work of José Mourinho.
Briefly, "Tension" is associated with mechanical actions that require high level of Strength (especially eccentric) used in field exercises. Small sided games (SSG) are a good example of exercises that require high muscle tension.
"Duration" is associated with the term endurance. The exercises created with this orientation will be developed in larger areas and with more players involved.
Finally, the term "Speed" is associated not only with the motor actions that occur in the shortest possible time but also with speed reaction and fast decision making.
In a weekly organization, where should I include exercises associated with each of these proposals?
Adapted from tactical periodization morphocycle
As we can see, each day is represented by a color, a consequence of different regimes of motor contraction (tension, duration or speed) that are sought to evidence in a "horizontal" way (along the morphocycle) and that "forces" the times of exercise to respect the time the body needs to recover from each type of stimulus.
This alternation is not only related to the motor actions and their metabolic consequences, but also the emotional state of the players is placed in equation and the proximity to the previous game and the next one is respected.
Description: SSG (1v1 and 2v2)
In a 8x8m area two players compete against each other to see who score more goals in 1 minutes. In the second phase we can create 2v2 or 3v3 situations. The aim of the exercise is to develop individual/sectorial attacking actions like progression, dribbling or short combinations and, also, defensive actions like delay or defensive coverage.
Description: Possession game 7v7 + 2 jokers
Team in possession tries to keep the ball using the 2 jokers in support, “opening” the pitch and giving to the attack a specific direction. When the opponent team recovers the ball, they try to do the same.
With this shape of the pitch (hexagon), the coach can create an intesectorial dynamic between fullback and winger, “forcing” them to play in different lines (tactical principle).
Key points: Take advantage of numerical superiority – controling possession; Correct use of the space; quick reaction between defensive-offensive moments
Description: Speed reaction 1v1
One coach passes the ball to the other coach. In that moment, two players from each side (team) run in the coach’s direction and can touch the ball to one side or the other. Both players must react and the first one that passes the final line with the ball controlled wins.
What if the microcycle structure became “vertical”?
What kind of impact would it have on the exercises?
